La Buissière Yoga and Walking Holidays
The holiday
A holiday at La Buissière is essentially a French experience blended with a passion for yoga and walking.
Anybody and everybody, young and old, can benefit from a yoga holiday, where we use classical Hatha yoga postures combined with breathing practices and relaxation to help you stretch, unwind and release mental and physical tension. Our resident teacher, Pierrette, has developed her teaching into a caring and gentle method suitable for both beginners and as 'holiday maintenance' for regular practitioners.
It is an excellent area for hiking and exploring with a myriad of ancient footpaths and bridleways criss-crossing wooded hillsides and vineyards to choose from. Our guided walks include everything the region has to offer with magnificent views, riverside walks and secluded hamlets, without being too physically demanding.
To help you relax and unwind even further why not treat yourself to one of our massage therapies - the perfect complement to both yoga and walking, helping to alleviate stress, improve body posture and reduce stiffness.
The Lot is particularly well known for its food and wine and eating out in this part of France, and with over two dozen restaurants within 15 minutes drive, an experience not to be missed.
The area is steeped in history and we offer a number of optional guided excursions to some of the fascinating places of interest to be found in this remarkable part of south-west France, such as the prehistoric painted caves at Peche Merle.
As well as sightseeing there are plenty of other activities close to hand such as walking and cycling, boat trips and canoeing on the river Lot, or just exploring the charming idiosyncrasies of rural France. Not forgetting the many music and wine festivals in the area throughout the summer and every town and village has at least one fête.
The Centre
Set in a beautiful countryside location, the centre has been carefully restored and specially customised to a very high standard.
The stunning custom-built yoga practice room is fully equipped and has a floor-to-ceiling glass wall looking out onto the garden.
The large 12m x 7m pool is chemical-free and is the perfect place to relax with plenty of loungers and sun beds, so don't forget the sun lotion.
The enclosed 2 acre wooded garden is a real oasis of shade with lots of space and quiet corners with hammocks, just right for an afternoon siesta or to catch up on your favourite novel.
Group sizes are deliberately small and accommodation is limited to a maximum of 9 guests, engendering an atmosphere of intimacy and privacy. Accommodation is in spacious, comfortable and clean single, double and twin bedded studios, each with its own fully equipped kitchenette, private en-suite facilities and separate WC.
A comfortable communal lounge - with music, a library of books and games, as well as maps and other local information - opens onto a large, shady terrace where you can g

The area is delightful for walking and cycling, boat trips and canoeing on the river Lot, or just exploring the charming idiosyncrasies of rural France.
Puy-l’Evêque, an extremely beautiful town of medieval origins, built literally onto the side of a steep riverside cliff, is only 5 minutes drive away; and the bustling market town of Prayssac only 10 mins. A little over half an hour away is the fascinating medieval town of Cahors, which has the oldest fortified bridge in Europe, the Pont Valentré, and the earliest, moorish style, domed cathedral in France.
Sightseeing opportunities in the Lot are too numerous to mention them all. The area is steeped in history, from the massacre of the Cathars to the Hundred Years war: Take a guided tour to Pech Merle, one of the most important and largest Palaeolithic caves in Europe with images and paintings between 18,000 and 40,000 years old; or nearby Chateau de Bonaguil, an impressive castle dating from the 13th century; or take a wine tasting tour of some of Cahors most renown vineyards
There are music and wine festivals in the area throughout the summer, including the famous Cahors Blues Festival, and every town and village has at least one fête.
Eating out in this part of France is an experience not to be missed with no shortage of good places to eat, from classy restaurants offering refined gourmet fare to more modest establishments such as crêperies, pizzerias and brasseries. |
