Over eating wastes food(which could be of use to starving people around the world),It spoils your physical and mentalhealth,it may give rise to lot many diseases,and may,in the process,spoil successive generations.Over eating therefore does not affect you alone.Good that you feel that you are doing something wrong.This feeling itself can be starting point.Have will power and determination,and start giving up some of the useless articles you are eating every week,if not daily.In Hindus there is system/ancient tradition of giving up eating of an article which is offered to god.If you,e.g.,offer junk food to god,then it is considered to be only for god,and the devotee does even think of ever consuming it.This is to strengthen one's will power with the support of god,and seeking god's blessings for success in the endeavour.Try something like that.
To increase your will power,determination and confidence you have to practice pranyam daily,moring and evening.Even during these sessions you are supposed to be in the lap of god ,and seeking his blessings.It will increse your conciousness,and make you more concious,aware and careful when eating.If you do want to try,write to me I may keep giving tips to you along the path.

There is nothing like Pranayam.When oxygen goes to every nook and corner of your body it not only burns fat,it brings unbelievable changes in each cell of your body.But Pranayam affects you more at the mental level.It is a link between body and mind and affects your thinking and attitudes like nothing else.
Breath with your abdomen.When you breathe with your abdomen, you create a center; when you have a center, you are more confident and coordinated; when you have confidence, you have much more potential and are not afraid of challenges. In effect, you are bringing back the potential that God gave you. You are not afraid anymore.In this state all cravings wither away.Your system automatically refuses to accept what does not suit it.
I find nothing wrong in having sweets,but we should better avoid very refined sugar.Proper pranayam,and some exercise will take care of your craving,if still little bit of it continues.
If you pay a little attention to the type and quantity of food, you will see the futility of overeating sweets.
There are 3 types of food: Sattvic, Rajasic and Tamasic.
Sweets come under the 'Rajasic' category. They induce a lot of thoughts and keep the body and mind restless. And too much of Rajas leads to irritability, which ultimately turns into anger and in extreme cases, violence.
So, when we raise our awareness towards what we eat, we become more sensitive to our body and mind.
If you intention is to be calm and focussed, you will see that sweets are counter-productive to reach that goal and you will automatically drop it.
Spices,salt,chillies,and oil are much worse than sweets,and lead us to chaos and vilolence.The way we cosume them and the quantity we consume in the so called civilised society is scaring.It is unfortunate that we speak so much against sweets,and nothing against way of having salt and spices.
Rather sweets,especially in raw form are natural food,and are easier to digest.No wonder we offer gods and goddeses only sweet Prasadams,and not salty,spicy articles
