I was looking for some yoga inspired collars for my dogs and couldn''t find them anywhere...so I made them. Here is the link if you''re interested! The collars are handmade and the "OM" and "Namaste" prints are handpainted. I have several listed in my store but can make custom sizes and colors too! http://www.etsy.com/listing/77881976/lg-adjustable-namaste-dog-collar-fits-15 http://www.etsy.com/listing/78445138/lg-or-xl-adjustable-om-dog-collar

I don't believe so at all. I'm interested to hear why you might think this.

Ma'am,do you understand yoga?It is a spiritual path, from one's outerself to one's inner self, and through that to Divinity,to God.To move on the spiritual path, one has to be spiritual in every way;in thinking, feeling, gestures, words, thoughts and so on.So you never even think of abusing, misusing, downgrading any word, place, photo etc. relating to God or its path.Yoga dog collar does that. You could as well call it God dog collar. If you already understand what I am saying, you are degrading yoga and path to Divinity;if you do not,you may become laughing stock, and degrade yourself.

I do understand yoga. The fifth Niyama is Isvara Pranidhana-;seeing the Divine in everything. I love my dogs like my own children. The have taught me many great life lessons and I cherish them greatly. I DO consider them to be part of the very same life force as the rest of us.
Yoga also teaches non-judgement. We should try to maintain a peaceful mind and help others to do the same. Generally, if you don't have something nice to say, it is kinder to keep it to yourself.
When I take my dogs out, people ask me what their collars mean. It is a great opportunity to educate people about yoga. As for being the "laughing stock", I'm not concerned about that. Perception (including yours) is not truth. The only truth is silence. Namaste.

It is unfortunate that yoga is being used for commercial purposes. It is unfortunate that spirituality is taken by a large number as something to argue about, and win points. It is unfortunate that one does not make dog collars in the name of one’s parents, but in the name of God.It is unfortunate that people use Om without understanding its meaning and spirit. It is unfortunate that yoga is meant only for obtaining certificates from commercial shops, and flounting it to claim knowledge about spirituality and Divinity. It is unfortunate that people use Namaste like a snub, without understanding its meaning and spirit. It is unfortunate that seeing God everywhere is meant to be misusing God for selfish, commercial purposes, for earning money. It is unfortunate that one sees God only in one’s dogs and not in others’,and one charges for selling collars for others. It is unfortunate that we go to any extent for selfish ends, even to the extent of defending anything and everything,as long as one can earn.Rightly then Aristotle concluded that men are swayed more by fear than by by reverence, and refrain from evil because of punishment that it brings than because of its foulness.

“yoga is possible for anybody…….but don’t approach yoga with a business mind looking for worldly gains.’Shri Krishna Pattabhi Jois.

Yoga in Mayfair or Fifth Avenue, or in any other place which is on the telephone, is a spiritual fake. ~Carl Jung

It is a pity that some people who claim to understand yoga, cause much more harm to it than others can ever think. It is a pity that such knowledgable persons have to ‘go to dogs’ for ‘enlightening’others about the primodial sound OM. It is a pity that they do not understand Lord Krishna’s clarification in Bhagwad Geeta that"Within all the Vedas, I am the symbol Om."

It is not understandable that if God Himself is OM,why do the knowledgable persons need dog’s life to popularize it?

It is unfortunate that,as T.S.Eliot claifies, these people have lost all knowledge with information;and what they now claim as knowledge is,to use George Bernard Shaw’s words ‘more dangerous than ignorance’.

Ishwar paridhan means beliving in omnipresent, omnipotent God and complete surrender to it.It does not mean earning money,or serving selfish ends by quoting Ishwar paridhan.

It is one of last Niyams,to be used in one of the last stages on the path to Samadhi. It is meant not for using dogs for selling gimmicks, but for complete faith in,and surrender to God without applying worldly logic.

samadhi siddhih ishvarapranidhana(2.45,Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra).

It means from an attitude of letting go into one's source (ishvarapranidhana), the state of perfected concentration (samadhi) is attained. Thus,it is at the Samadhi stage that it is needed, because you do not know where you are entering next.It is to give confidence and faith at that stage, though we must begin having complete trust in God/Divinity and His powers from the very beginng, leaving all unsolved problems and confusion to Him only.

It is wrong as some knowledgeable persons opine that one should not speak until one has kinder words to say.One must speak the right thing, though to some it may appear bitter. In the present context, not only someone is using a way of selling things which is absolutely wrong, and against any form of spiritual beliefs and thinking, but also claiming it to be right and perfect by citing some Niyam without understanding its meaning, context and implications.Going by this wretched logic, one can resort to any kind of criminality because one is ‘seeing divinity in everything’;one can steal and loot because everything belongs to God;one can have any kind of relationship with any person/relative because one loves him/her is seeing divinity in him/her.
