Bikram Chaudhary introduced this form of yoga which is also known as Hot Yoga in US. This is a recent development and addition to various forms this exercise. It is not a very old exercise. It was found towards the end of 20th century by Bikram who is an instructor in India. He taught this exercise to around 3 million aspiring students and later the American Medical Association asked him to bring this concept to America. It is known as Hot Yoga because the postures in this form of exercise is practiced in a heated room. It basically rejuvenates and strengthens the entire body and mind. Now you would think why is this form exercise beneficial to you or how will it help you? The answer to your queries is in the coming paragraphs.

· There are 26 poses or asanas in this form of exercise which proves to be a perfect work out for the entire body and not just one part of your body.

· The poses involved in this form of exercise create a balance in your body.

· Using strength, gravity and tourniquet technique, this form of exercise builds up stamina, flexibility and energy in your body.

· It squeezes and massages the internal organs of one’s body through various poses and cleans the entire cardiovascular system of your body. The nervous system of your body is relaxed.

A single session of this exercise lasts up to 90 minutes. There are 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises. The temperature of the room in which this exercise is practiced is 105F and the humidity of the room is 40%.

· It controls the oxygen flow and cholesterol in one’s body.

Hello there,

Thanks for posting this!
I really like birkram yoga myself. It is so challenging, I love it! And then, when the class is over, you feel so good, so empty, so peaceful.

Everyone should try it at least once. It my feel hard at the beginning and the smell can be difficult to go over. The 1st 15min are intense, but then, you have to focus on your body and mind so, you forgot about it ;-)
