 Backward walking for constipation;
I read an article in a magazine that backward walking aids in helping in constipation. It also writes that tapping on the butts near rectum helps in emptying the bowel.
Rationale is not explained. so if anyone of us know about it,, it would help the community in general.
pressing the point on the top of the small triangular muscle beteween thumb and index figure also helps in prevention  of constipation. This pressure also helps to get sleep easier.
in yoga sankh prakshalan is a standard method to cleans bowel completey.I am sure the method will be available in some website. In short consists of drinking 2 glasses of saline water and do five sankhprakshalan asanas.repeat this procedure for till you take 40 glasses Everytime he finishes asanas he has to go to bathroom to evacuate the bowel. In this way eventually the bowel is completely cleaned and pure water comes out from the bowel; This is usually done under supervision of a Teacher.Namaste

Could you give an advice about yoga exercises for constipation and bowel cleansing for a beginner without a Teacher?
What exercises are save to do at home without big experience with yoga and not very high level of physical condition?

I am sorry Dalsukh bhaia,

The problem at your feet is very common at this age. Try to move your ankle & toes  sitting in a chair. Hope you know all the possible movements of these joints. Please do them 10 - 15 each X 2 for each direction.

You can sit in Bajrasana before you go to sleep start with 2 - 3 minutes then you can increase the time. During this time you please follow the movement of your abdominal wall with breath, how the abdomen in bulging out with inhalation & sinking in with exhalation. This is actually to bring the mind inward and to engage your restless mind to follow the movement of abdomen, so that it cannot move here & there.

Best wishes always

Yogacharya Tonmoy

Yogacharya Tonmoy jee.
This the first time someone has told me that it is common complaint(tightness in feet) in this age. I was always suggested some treatment for arthritis. So I am greatly relieved and now I can do my yoga practice with my full enthusiasm and to my full capacity.I do sit in Bajrasan after meals for 5 to 15 minutes   with vayu mudra. since many years accompanied with Abdominal breathing. A diabetalogist expressed some doubt about bajrasan as it puts more weight on calf muscles.I do not have diabetes so I can't  can't have  Diabetic neuropathy. with your clarification about the usual occurence of such complain, now I can follow my full yoga and other practice. Thank you for instilling confidence in

the wind removing pose is a great pose for digestion and elimination.  be sure to use your biceps to draw the knee up and around teh rib cage toward the arm pit.  on the right side it is the ascending colon and on the left side the descending.  you can massage this area too if you are constipated and that helps as well.  taking a gentle spinal twist from a supine position also helps.  you can also see both of these poses at lotuspetalyoga.com. in the poses section and read proper alignment.

To Lotus petal,
Thank you very much for the suggestion on abdominal asanas and kriyas. I will definatiely visit Lotus petal .com.
A variant in pawanmuktasan.while supine put one feet over the other and press the abdomen with the  top feet. this purts extra pressure on abdoman. I am doing this variation off and on.
The article which has suggested Backward walking had also suggested tapping on some part of buttocks near the anus to evacuate rectum further. In backward waking website, they have not suggested backward walking for constipation but they advocate backward walking anf running to give fthe full exercise to all muscles of the legs as differnt muscles work in opposite walking.Few exercises of pillates are also quiute interesting. Namaste

To Lotus Petal,
Refer malasan in your website.Mal means human feases. People using indian comode sit in a sqat position hence the posture name is given as mal-asan. Mala means necklace or garland. In englisd the posture can be named as crow Asan as the posture is similar to crow in a sitting position. I think i have read somewhere about craw asan.
Somwhere in the website 450 degree angle is mentioned instead of 45. zero in not typed as supsubcribed. This is for your information ony.
I have liked whatever i have read in the website. Please excuse my spelling mistake as i have to use a magnifying glass to read what i type because of my age-related- macular-degeneration.
