Dharana Yoga

When you are doing something, there is always the danger of losing focus of the task at hand. From the task, the mind drifts to something else until you completely lose sight of the work that you have to do. Every person can fall into this trap and that is why the practice of Yoga and
Meditation aims to help people concentrate for them to see what really is before them.
Dharana Yoga is the sixth limb of
Ashtanga Yoga. This is the stage where a person achieves perfect concentration. In this section, know what perfect concentration exactly is and learn the benefits of achieving this stage.
Perfect Concentration
It was mentioned earlier that Dharana is the stage by which you achieve perfect concentration. But what really is that so-called perfect concentration?
Imagine your concentration as a very long highway that goes on a straight path and your thought is a car that passes through it. Aside from being straight, that highway also doesn’t have exits save for the end of the road.
Perfect concentration is much like that. A person who has achieved Dharana is able to focus on one thing only and is not distracted by other things.
What’s next after Dharana?
So what happens after you achieve perfect concentration? To put it succinctly, the mind expands further and becomes more powerful.
But what is it like to have an “expanded” and more powerful mind? To have such a mind is to be able to see something as it is because you are not distracted by other things that may tend to veer your mind away from that particular thing. Distractions may include your set of biases against the thing which hinders you from seeing the thing in its true form.
While this article will never suffice in helping you achieve Dharana, we hope that we can help you understand Dharana Yoga better.

I suggest you read a book titled Book 4 by Alester Crowley he was a master of Yoga and Magick. In my expierence of Dharana the position does not matter only the extent of youre will. Dharana is more than simply clearing youre mind from all thought it is as i have experienced and read about connection with the "holy lighted material" which brings us into life. There is one other staate to acheave past Dharana it is necessary to complete the practice of yoga the steps you may read about in Book 4 are all to be done together in close concession one after another. You could spend an entire day in practice of yoga and another 13 to acheave Dharana.
