Integral Yoga

Integral Yoga refers to the series of teachings by the Indian guru, Sri Aurobindo along with his partner Mirra Alfassa who is now better known as simply, The Mother sometime in the early 1900s. The teachings aim to open the practitioners' eyes to see beyond the surface of things.
History
What is known today as Integral Yoga is a collection of writings of Sri Aurobindo from the early 1900s to the 1930s. The body of writing includes his book, "They Synthesis of Yoga", his correspondence with his disciples found in the book, "Letters on Yoga" and "Record of Yoga" which contains his personal journal of his yogic experiences.
The Synthesis of Yoga is the most definitive since it covers the aspects of Integral Yoga itself.
What is Integral Yoga?
According to Sri Aurobindo, under the surface of every being in the universe lies a singular truth. However, the ordinary human mind cannot see through the surface. In order to see the reality that lies underneath each and every being, the human mind should be disciplined. It can be done by the ancient practice of Yoga.
By practicing Yoga, the human mind is opened to see beyond what is on the surface. Once a person sees beyond that, he or she begins to see the reality that lies underneath.
The Role of the Master
However, the path to enlightenment is not an easy one. It can be made easier with the help of a Master. The Master is a person who has already achieved the higher state of consciousness that a student aspires to achieve. With his experience, he will be able to guide the student towards the right path of achieving his level of consciousness.
Aside from guidance, the Master also gives inspiration to the student so that the latter can move on through the difficulty of mastering oneself.
Since the path is not easy, it will take time to achieve what the Masters have. It is therefore important to open one's mind in accepting the difficulties and having the patience to never give up when the going gets tough. In the end, a great reward of the higher state of consciousness is achieved. One will realize, then, that the sacrifices and the devotion have all been worth it.
Integral Yoga combines several branches of Yoga so that practitioners will have a better way of achieving the higher state of consciousness. With the help of a Master, the results become even better. Try it out now and see how it changes your life.
