Kripalu Yoga

Kripalu Yoga Kripalu Yoga is a Hatha Yoga approach that blends traditional postures with breathing techniques, Meditation exercises, deep relaxation, and body awareness.

Kripalu Yoga was developed by Yogi Amrir Desai, who got his inspiration from respected Yoga master Swami Kripalvanandaji, his teacher in India. Kripalu literally means "being compassionate". Kripalu Yoga is known for being a gentle practice that puts emphasis on practicing compassion in everyday life.

Kripalu Yoga is known as the Yoga of consciousness. It does not only give significance to ancient yogic teachings but it also puts emphasis on individual inner wisdom. Hence, Kripalu Yoga is an effective method of achieving personal growth and empowerment.

The primary goal of Kripalu Yoga is to have an integrated mind, body, and spirit. Practitioners believe that the prana, sometimes called as the "life force," is easily affected by thoughts or worries. Kripalu Yoga practice enhances awareness of the prana, and prevents this from being disturbed.

Corollary, mental clarity, emotional calmness, enhanced concentration and self-awareness are achieved. With regards to the physical health, Kripalu Yoga practice helps release tension, reduce anxiety, enhance circulation, and energize the body, among other benefits.

The practice of Kripalu Yoga has three stages. The first stage focuses on correct body alignment, as well as proper coordination of breathing and movement. The first stage aims to let prana flow strongly all throughout the body.

The next stage puts emphasis on Meditation, which develops concentration and releases tension. Postures are held for extended periods of time. The capacity for learning and growth is greatly increased in this stage.

In the third stage, both the mind and the body are greatly relaxed. Known as the "Meditation in motion," the mind, body, and spirit are united in this stage. Body movements occur naturally because of the stimulation of the inner self and the prana.
