Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is a method which is part of Taoist Yoga. It includes Asanas to strengthen the body, enabling you to sit for long periods during Meditation. Sitting for a long time requires your hips and lower back to be strong and open. Yin Yoga helps open up your muscles and skin and strengthen them. It targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.
Yin Yoga is all about concentrating on keeping our joints mobile. During different exercises, our connective tissues shrink-wrap our joints which are necessary and appropriate when practicing Yoga. The practice of Yin Yoga helps keep our joints moist and supple.
Since Yoga practitioners engage in all kinds of postures and movements, some people are still having a hard time maintaining their balance when sitting for long periods of time. Doing Asanas can help you increase your strength and flexibility although you may find it insufficient. This is where Yin Yoga can be of great help to you.
Yin Yoga combines the use of passive and active Asanas, Pranayama, and Meditation. Because the focus is on the connective tissues, you become more flexible, your organs perform better, and you become calm and more focused. Getting in touch with the connective tissues in a deeper level makes them less heavy and more flexible. You will eventually be able to sit during Meditation for a long period of time.
This type of Yoga is very relaxing and can be done by beginners and experienced yogis. It addresses the deeper spiritual areas of Yoga which incorporate chakras, breathing exercises, postures, and Meditation. More and more people are adding Yin Yoga to their regular practice. As you grow old, you may need to focus more on the deeper tissues of the body. Years of practice will make you healthy, strong, and more flexible.
