YogaTailor.com Launches Online Yoga Class Website YogaTailor.com, a San Francisco based "Online Yoga Class" Company, today announced the launch of its website. Users can go to the website and get custom-fit, personalized yoga videos based on different criteria e.g. level of expertise, amount of time available, back-pain etc. The videos are generated within a few seconds and can be watched immediately. The videos change daily and also adapt based on the progress of the user.

"I travel a lot and I have little control on when I can do yoga. The ability to do guided yoga whenever and wherever I want is very useful" said Ron, a San Francisco based entrepreneur.

"I cannot afford taking too many classes at the studio and I do not have the time to figure out the schedules. All I know is that I do want to do yoga and this website is perfect for me" said Jenna, a Boston-based coffee shop manager and a mother of two kids.

WebMD.com, an online provider of verified and credible health information, documents the various health benefits of yoga on their website. The benefits are many according to WebMD - improved muscle tone, a stress-free mind, beneficial effects to patients of heart disease and hypertension - to name a few. The website also states that yoga has been associated with reduced cholesterol and a possible cure for some forms of depression.

"For a vast majority of people, yoga still remains something that they do once in a while at the gym. The reasons are many, the unavailability of good classes close to them, the maze of new terms and classes that they have to deal with, the fear of the contorted "pretzel" poses that are often associated with yoga... At YogaTailor.com, we are enabling access to custom guided classes that can be watched anywhere and anytime that's convenient to the users. The classes adapt slowly, giving time to learn and grow" said Ram, the founder of YogaTailor.

YogaTailor has been testing the website with some early adopters in the United States, Canada and the UK and based on the positive feedback has launched the website.

YogaTailor.com was formed by a group of certified yoga teachers and yoga enthusiasts. The website http://www.yogatailor.com/onlineyoga.php, with guided online yoga videos, is available to anyone with an internet connection and works on all browsers. Pricing starts at $7.99 a month and they have a free trial period with full access to the website.

Amazon's Video On Demand Offers Plus Size Yoga Plus size people now have a viable yoga option with Beginners Dynamic Yoga For Stress Release and Weight Loss. Suzanne Andrews, the host of Beginners Dynamic Yoga is no stranger to the plus size population. Having lost over 60 pounds, she understands the needs of the larger population. Andrews explains, " I remember when I was a size 18, I couldn't even see my toes, let alone touch them. Ther e was no way I was going to get down on a yoga mat or contort myself into a pretzel. Besides, as a medical professional, I know it can be damaging to ones ligaments to get into those pretzel positons."

With Beginners Dynamic Yoga's emphasis on offering medical yoga poses done seated on a chair and standing, one need not get down on the floor to get the benefits of yoga. Medical or "therapeutic" yoga is a far cry from the intense technique taught in health clubs. According to The Wall Street Journal, "popular yogas, such as Ashtanga, Bikram and Iynegar are physically demanding, usually causing participants to break a sweat. By contrast, therapeutic yoga focuses on breathing and meditation techniques that calm the mind, increase lung capacity and reduce stress. Health clubs "are much more into power, in-your-face kind of yoga," says Vijay Vad, sports medicine specialist at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.

Other benefits of yoga include: stress release, weight loss, improved mental health and improved flexiblity. Now these benefits, once only available to the super fit and super flexible, are accessible to the plus size and unfit population who want to try yoga but don't for fear of hurting themselves. Kim Kovenig, a medical center registered dietician, offered Beginners Dynamic Yoga to her patients, many of whom were very overweight and reluctant to try yoga. "I often work with people of size, it's refreshing to see a DVD that any body, any size, any age can do this program."

Beginners Dynamic Yoga for Stress Release and Weight Loss offers plus size people a medically reviewed and approved program they can call their own. Now available for rental or purchase a fraction of the hard copy price at Amazon's video on demand at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001P7CACI/ref=pd_lpo_k ...

Mysore Yoga Goes to Manhattan Madonna's rippling muscles owe more to Ashtanga yoga than to weight training. And it was Mysore's Pattabhi Jois, a master practitioner of Hatha Yoga, who made Ashtanga yoga popular abroad, especially in america. If Mysore today is synonymous with yoga west of the Atlantic, it is largely because of the efforts of three modern yoga masters from the erstwhile royal city who were hugely successful in mainstreaming this ancient Indian practice in the US. The yoga trio of BKS lyengar, Jois and Desikachar put Mysore firmly on the global yoga map such that Mysore today is as much a yoga destination as a tourist one.

The New York Times lists Mysore as one of the top must visit places on the planet in 2010 for its flourishing yoga culture. It looks like the city and its yoga centres are firmly under the spotlight.

Mysore has more than 50 yoga and meditation centres including Jois' Ashtanga Yoga Research Institure, now run by his grandson Sharat, Sri Vedavyasa Yoga Foundation of Raghavendra Pai and others. Yoga and meditation camps are conducted regularly at Osho Centre and Osho Sannidhi, Siddi Samadhi Yoga Centre and Yoga Sikshna Samiti. Most of these camps run to full capacity. At Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute, for example, you need to book in advance to get a slot.

Mysore's yoga heritage has the erstwhile Mysore royal family, the Wodeyars, to than for. They not only patronised yoga but were also expert performers. It was Mummadi Krishnaraj Wodeyar who wrote Sritatvanidhi, a treatise on various forms of yoga.

Says yoga master Pai, who taught the basics of yoga to former president A.P.J Abdul Kalam and popularised the 'yogic walk' concept, "In addition to Wodeyar, who described the benefits of 121 asanas in his book Shaivanidhi, other Maharajas were also very supportive Mysore yoga deals with physical, mental, intellectual, emotional and spiritual problems arising out of modern day life." Pai ads that his ancient form also deals with pollution and stress related disorders.

The grandson of Pattabhi Jois, R Sharat turns nostalgic when tracing the history of yoga and its relation to Mysore. "Definitely yoga is an ancient Indian form of treatment for many ailments, but Mysore has its own place for projecting yoga as the est treatment for many ailments, besides leading to a blissful spiritual life."

Not too hot or cold, not too cloudy or sunny" is what makes Mysore most suitable for yoga," says Bharat Shetty of Yoga India, adding that 'culture and heritage' tag attached to Mysore isa value addition.
