A study by the Group Health Cooperative in Seattle, found that yoga can help ease back pain. The study was made on 101 adults who suffer from back pain.
The adults were divided into three groups to compar e different methods. The first group was composed of people who attended 12 weekly, 75-minute classes to learn yoga. The second group attended 12 weekly, 75-minute aerobics, strengthening and stretching classes. In the meanwhile, the third group read a self-care book on back pain. Few of the participants used pain relieving medication.
After the 12 sessions, the participants in the yoga group functioned better in back-involving activities . Moreover, after 26 weeks, the yoga group had lesser back pain and functioned even better. Those who are interested in trying the same thing should find an instructor who is experienced in teaching students with the same ailment. Complicated yoga poses might aggravate further pain. Welcome the New Year with 108 sun salutations and at the same time help victims of domestic abuse on Jan. 1 at Yogalife studio in Seattle, WA. Bret Cofman will lead participants through 108 sun salutation s as a way to salute the New Year. Participants are encouraged to “pledge” a donation for each sun salutation. The donations are for the benefit of the victims of domestic abuse at the Catherine Booth House.
