Do you feel the need to deepen further you practice of yoga? If you do then, head on to the Starlite Studio, in New York, New York, Yoga on May 6, Saturday, from 2-4pm.
The workshop will introduce partic ipants to the various aspects of Reiki, from its history to how and why it works as well as what it can do for your yoga practice. Aside from that, the two-hour workshop will also include guided meditation, a sample healing session of Reiki and a discussion on the benefits you can get by combining Reiki with Hatha Yoga.
In addition to the introductory lessons, several other things that will be included in the workshop like the Group Energy Circle, Extended Yoga Nidra with Reiki Healing Awareness as well as the opportunity to have your questions answered by the workshop's facilitator.

The Yoga Place in North Canton, Ohio has several events and fund raisers that are slated for late April and May. Try to check them out and see if you can attend at least one of them.
First up is meditati ve class, “Pranayama: The Gentle Art of Mindful Breathing”. It is divided into four sessions that aims to help participants, “develop greater concentration and deeper relaxation.” The class which will be conducted by the Yoga Place director Mike Curtis will be held every Monday from May 1-22 from 7:15 pm to 8:15 pm. Meanwhile, on Sunday, May 21, Karen Allgire will be holding an Iyengar Class from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.
As for the fund raising events, the Yoga Place will be sponsoring two for late April and May, as of press time. The first one would be the “Fundraiser for the Canton Symphony: Gentle Chair – Yoga Class” on April 29 and May 6. The class is designed for beginners and all the proceeds will go to the Canton Symphony. Then on May 7, there will be another fund raising event for the renovation of the Yoga Place. It will feature a special performance by Breathing Room which features traditional Indian call-and-response chanting.
So if you wish to improve your well-being or to support worthy causes, head on to the Yoga Place and attend the events they have scheduled for late this month and the next. Whether you are a mother, a grandmother or somebody, “who wishes to celebrate motherhood”, you can start registering now for the Raja Yoga Retreat which will be held at the Margaret Austin Retreat Center in Texas on
Mother's Day Weekend from May 12-14. On the other hand, if you are a husband or a boyfriend who plans on giving this retreat to your significant other as a gift, you may also do so.
The retreat which will be facilitated by Charles MacInerney, will include discussions on Raja Yoga and the Eight-fold Path, Yamas and Niyamas and the Seven Chakras. Aside from that, there will also be workshops on Pranayama and Mind-Mapping, six Hatha Yoga classes as well as eight meditation classes. The meditation classes will include classes on Working, Walking, Eating and Detached Observation. In addition to the various workshops and discussions, participants can also avail of massage services from two registered massage therapists.
The two-day event is open to students of all levels. While there are a lot of activities slated for the weekend, the participation in all the activities is optional.
Charles MacInerney is an experienced yoga teacher, having taught yoga and meditation to over 12,000 students since 1989. Aside from teaching yoga and meditation, he is also a professional public speaker and trainer.

Spend as much time outdoors as you would exploring your inner self. Experience hiking, yoga and simple meditation from April 28-30 at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Berkshire Massachusetts.
Th e program is open to everyone. There, you will be given the opportunity to explore and appreciate the natural beauty of the Berkshires. After the hike, you will return indoors and will have the time to turn inward and explore your inner self with the help of a, “simple and deeply relaxing yoga and meditation experience.” At the end of the day, you and all the participants will have a soothing foot massage.

- Self-awareness, mindfulness, and compassion exercises
- Breath and movement coordination
- Healing yoga postures
- Simple meditation techniques

While Memorial Day is still a little more than a month away, it is always better to plan ahead to avoid the holiday rush. Sign up now for the, “Remembering the NOW: A Memorial Day Retreat” in Sedona, Arizona with Jef
