“The Edge is an environment that is naturally enjoyable. We installed the first commercial bamboo floor in Canada 10 years ago in our Yoga Room. It provides a bright beautiful space for yoga, but most of our guests find sunrise yoga on our yoga platform over the lake most memorable,” says co-founder Todd Lucier. The Edge was laid out with great care within the greenery of the forest at the Edge of Ontario’s Algonquin Park. One of the buildings even has a living roof.
As for sea kayaking, Lucier says, they are seeing a great deal of interest in the graceful outdoor pursuit. “It’s something that gives retreat attendees a big boost in self esteem, a sense of I-did-it-ness that comes from learning something new that can take you places out of the ordinary.”
Northern Edge Algonquin yoga retreat vacations include mostly organic fare, including locally grown seasonal veggies, locally raised organic meat from Ware Farms, Huntsville.
“We encourage guests to take the train from Union Station, to enjoy the scenery without worrying about getting here, and it helps slow people down so they can get the most out of their retreat.” says owner, Todd Lucier. “We even provide complimentary shuttle service so a visit to the Edge is no worries from Toronto and back home.
