India’s Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss wants to make yoga compulsory in schools. He would meet with Human Resources Department Minister Arjun Singh to make yoga mandatory in schools across the country. Ramadoss sa
id he would take up the issue of making health a subject in schools so that children are made aware of health conditions like diabetes and hypertension and their prevention.
The minister disclosed that yoga would be introduced in 24 major Central Government Health Schemes (CGHS) centers in Delhi. Yoga will be taught to government servants who avail of free health services. Ramadoss described yoga as a “good trend” and a “cost-effective” way to live a healthy life. He added that the IT sectors should also imbibe the concept of yoga since many youngsters out of college join IT companies.

INDIANA - Sunayana Ferrer, a native of Puerto Rico, is offering a new Yoga Together course in West Lafayette. It is a different type of yoga session which involves mothers and their toddlers. The course uses playful
techniques that can be enjoyed by children under the age of six. Ferrer said, “This is not a class for losing weight. It’s for spending quality time with your child, hugging, kissing, being silly. It’s for bonding.”
The course costs $60 for six weeks but discount new student passes are available for $20 for the last three classes of a session.
Ferrer sets a theme for each class to help keep the toddlers’ attention. According to her, the children usually learn to stay on their mats and play quietly after a few weeks of classes.

Practice Ashtanga Yoga in the Yoga Teacher Training Certification Course from August 2 - 30, 2008 with Caroline Klebl. This certification course fulfills and surpasses the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training standards of
Yoga Alliance.
Caroline Klebl offers a comprehensive Teacher Training program for teachers, aspiring teachers, and dedicated practitioners of yoga. Her teacher training combines the high standards of practice, required by the Ashtanga Vinyasa System with the development of teaching skills necessary to introduce students to Ashtanga Yoga safely and effectively.
This course begins with a series of workshops focusing on the practice of Ashtanga Yoga. Each participant has a chance to first deeply immerse into his or her own practice and prepare for Mysore Style practice for the remainder of the course.
An Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training Manual is supplied to each participant. To those who attend all scheduled classes, a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate will be awarded at the end of the course.

- Intensive practice of the postures of the Primary Series
- The principles of Vinyasa, Bandhas, Drishti and Oujaii Pranayama
- Adjustments and Teaching Techniques
- Assisting and supervised teaching
- Introduction to western Anatomy
- Introduction to Ayurveda
- Meditation instruction
- The Chanting and Philosophy of the Yoga Sutras
- Sunrise Meditation: 6am-7am
- Ashtanga Yoga (Mysore Style or Led): 7am-9am
- Adjustments/Teaching Techniques: 10:00am-12:30pm
- Anatomy, Ayurveda & Philosophy: 3pm-5pm
This course will take place at a luxury boutique hotel and wellness resort. The resort includes a yoga pavilion, a treetop meditation deck, and a pool.
