Monday, 31 March 2008Yoga facelift is a natural approach to reduce wrinkles. People who want a chemical-free facelift can try this form of yoga. Marie Veronique Nadeau, 59, has been doing yoga facelift for two years, and toning more than 130 muscles above her neck, the wrinkles were wiped away.
However, Nadeau said there is a right and wrong way to work the face. If you do the wrong way, you can create m ore wrinkles without even knowing it. She suggests grabbing your face with your fingers and smiling without moving your lips. Do this five times with three repetitions each.

Friday, 28 March 2008TEXAS - The University of Texas’ Blanton Museum of Art is more than just a place of art. In 2006, the museum offered different programs and events series with the idea of attracting a diverse range of participants and visitors beyond the conventional art society. Brian Whisenhunt, manager of public programs at Blanton, said, “The main focus is to connect art and ideas. We try and connect with peo ple’s other interests. We want to present that perspective in relation to art."
Yoga classes are part of the museum’s programs. The classes are available on every third Thursday of the month. The patrons become as much a part of the aesthetics as the art. Olivia Silver, admissions and education assistant at the Blanton, demonstrates poses and discusses the works in the class’ surroundings.

CALIFORNIA - Lakshmi Voelker has created the chair yoga for those who are injured or less limber and those who still want the benefits of yoga. Chair yoga features standard mat yoga poses that can be done without lea
ving the chair.
Chair yoga classes are offered at the Joslyn Senior Center in Palm Desert. Also, Voelker has launched a yoga DVD. It contains two 10-minute classes and a 35-minute step-by-step guide that teaches the proper way to do each yoga pose. It also provides guidelines on how to adapt the position depending on the individual needs and limitations.

Rainy Waters Yoga offers classes to those who want to strengthen the body, quiet the mind, and lift the spirit. The spring session began on March 10 and will end on May 1. The classes are designed for the beginner to
learn the breathing techniques and postures. There are also exercises for the physically fit, those who are not accustomed to exercise, or to those who have illness or disabilities. Meditation techniques and exercises are also offered to keep people focused on the body and mind.
The spring classes are divided into: basic yoga, Level 1, and Level 2. The basic yoga class explores the basics of Hatha yoga. Level 1 is an introduction to the flow method with emphasis on stretching exercises called sun salutations, while Level 2 uses sun salutation variations, more complex postures, and some inversions.
Rainy Waters Yoga is located in the Dancing Sky Wellness Center in Faith United Church, at 1001 5th St. in International Falls.

A variety of new opportunities to benefit the mind and body are now available at the United States Mixed Martial Arts Training Center (USMMA) in Bellingham, MA, including Yoga classes.
Power and Slow Flo w Vinyasa Yoga are now available at the training center’s 1,500-square foot yoga center. Participants can drop in and try the classes for $14 per class. Private classes are also available.
Yoga is a spiritual discipline that strives to attain a higher consciousness through a series of stretches and exercises designed to promote control of the body and mind. The goal for each practitioner is to attain a state of perfect spiritual insight and tranquility.
Vinyasa is a term that covers a broad range of yoga classes. The word Vinyasa means "breath-synchronized movement", therefore, participants can expect more movement with stretching.
Slow Flow Vinyasa Yoga is a slower form of dynamic combination of strength, sweat, and spirituality. It detoxifies, heals, and electrifies with longer standing series and gentle floor stretching. This accessible, challenging, and flowing form of yoga leads to a state of transformation. It sculpts, tones, and hones the muscles of the body and mind. Power Vinyasa Yoga is a more dynamic combination of strength, sweat, and spirituality, in addition to detoxifying and healing.
The United States Mixed Martial Arts Training Center, located at 316 Hartford Avenue in Bellingham, focuses on elevating the physical and spiritual well-being of students through Mixed Martial Arts and Yoga. This is accomplished through a four-pronged approach to reality self-defense training centered in total body wellness.
The state of the art, 4000-square foot training facility is complete with a 2000-square foot padded Mixed Martial Arts training floor, equipped with heavy bags and conditioning equipment, a 1500-square foot yoga studio, locker rooms, showers, and a juice bar.
