The Indian Health Department introduced yoga classes in schools starting with the Cotton Collegiate Government Higher Secondary School. Experts of the Yoga Culture and the Yoga Therapy Center, a registered and government-aided organization, will be facilitating the classes.
Aside from Cotton Collegiate Government Higher Secondary School, there will also be one-hour yoga classes in Gopal Boro High School and T.C. Government Girls’ High School. Yoga teachers will conduct the classes for students from Class V to IX during normal school days. Yoga classes are held every last period of the day.
The Indian Government is convinced that such project could ensure a healthy body and mind among students. Yogachariya Subhasis, president of the Yoga Culture and Yoga Therapy Centre, believes that these classes help students increase their concentration power and will power. Furthermore, yoga classes enable students to maintain a disciplined and healthy lifestyle.
Aside from yoga classes, this project also provides counseling sessions for the students and the guardians. Study materials and tips to maintain a healthy diet will be provided.
Yoga Culture and the Yoga Therapy Center will initially conduct the yoga training of students for five months. After the training, the students will be advised to practice yoga everyday on their own.
