Hindus have urged those engaged in yoga business world over not to neglect its spiritual dimension.

Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that in view of explosive growth and popularity of yoga, mercantile greed had prompted many of those involved in yoga trade to reformulate it to satisfy the popular needs of their clientele. Thus yoga had now
come to be just seen as ‘modern postural yoga’, while actually it was a mental and physical discipline through which the human soul (jivatman) united with universal soul (parmatman).

Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, argued that in this rat race, the piety from yoga appeared to be getting lost. In view of the high popularity of physical Hatha Yoga, many teachers did not attempt to touch its other aspects. Actually yoga was supposed to direct the practitioner from external awareness to a focus on the inner, leading to the realization of Self.

Rajan Zed pointed out that Patanjali, who codified yoga (whose traces go back to around 2,000 BCE) in Yoga-sutra around 300 BCE after being founded by Yajnavalkya, described it as a methodical effort to attain perfection, through the control of the different elements of human nature, physical and psychical.

Zed stressed that it would be wonderful if yoga enthusiasts included various forms of yoga in their lifestyles, like karma-yoga, bhakti-yoga, jnana-yoga, mantra-yoga, laya-yoga, hatha-yoga, and raja-yoga. And as yoga, referred as “a living fossil”, was one of the six systems of orthodox Hindu philosophy, explore other five schools also, Zed suggested.

Rajan Zed also urged the organizations, which provide accreditation to various yoga teachers training courses world over, to include substantial spiritual and philosophical dimension of yoga in the curriculum of these courses in consultation with Hindu scholars.

Ed Mass, President and Founder of Yes It's Organic, says he's seeing a growing interest from customers looking for organic, eco friendly gifts for Moms. "Customers are writing to express gratitude and satisfaction with our huge inventory of eco friendly and organic items that make perfect gifts for Mother's Day," says Mass, "Our 100% Certified Organic Bamboo Pajamas are particularly selling well. "

Yes It's Organic is an online store featuring only organic and eco friendly products, including apparel, furniture and home accessories to enhance any green lifestyle. Mass created Yes It's Organic not only to make organic and eco friendly products available, but to educate consumers about the importance of considering these everyday items and their potential environmental and health impacts.

"People often consider food when thinking about health and environment," says Mass, "But it's also important to consider apparel, furnishings, bed and bath products, too. Unless produced organically or using eco friendly tactics, these items are often laden with harmful and toxic chemicals. They not only harm the environment during growth and manufacturing, but can carry into our home environments. Many of these chemicals cause cancer and are linked to multiple chemical sensitivities (mcs) or other health issues."

Mass has made it his mission to encourage awareness about organic and eco friendly everyday items. He has written several articles discussing the benefits of choosing organic over non organic, the positive properties of non traditional fibers like bamboo and hemp, and several other topics related to the textile industry.

When asked if Mass feels his education strategies are working, he said, "Oh yes, I do. I am seeing more and more sales from the store and people are leaving feedback about how they appreciate learning about the industry, knowing they are making a positive impact for the environment and their health."

Yes It's Organic is satisfying the demand for eco friendly gifts for Mother's Day, too. The store has seen a jump in sales through April and expects to see more during the rush before the Holiday. Mass reports that 100% Organic Bamboo Pajamas and 100% Organic Cotton Yoga Apparel are the most popular items this season. Mass also anticipates a growing interest in the newer additions of stylish, organic cotton apparel tailored specifically for women, like the Women's 100% Organic Cotton Voile Ruffle Blouse.

In the midst of a global economic meltdown, physical well-being has been neglected by many due to financial strains – too many bills and too little money. This is a "double whammy" because exercise is both stress reliever and essential to a healthy lifestyle. Yoga is ideal for these times since it works not only on the body but also on, the mind and the spirit. Strenuous physical exercises combin ed with breathing, relaxation and meditation techniques are just what the Doctor ordered for high stress times. The alternative can often be undesired weight-gain, increased alcohol use or depression.

SoniYoga in Cambridge wants to help. Soni Anderson, owner of SoniYoga, is inviting anyone to come to her yoga classes and pay what they can afford, even if it is nothing at all, for the months of April and May. "Yoga is so important in these times to help people take care of themselves. " Soni says. And her students agree, ”Soni is an amazing teacher and I always leave her class feeling awesome. I don’t know what I would do without yoga” says one student, “and I’m so glad now I can keep coming and pay what I can each day”.

“Right now,” Soni says, “it is about the community and helping each other. That’s what real yoga is about." SoniYoga has classes seven days a week with a full program of classes focusing on Hatha yoga, plus classes in Kundalini, Sivananda and yoga flow. Classes for the all other teachers at SoniYoga are the standard rates which can be found on the website.
