The 40 Day Yoga Challenge at Yoga Yoga is scheduled for April 1 through May 10, 2010. The program is designed to encourage participants, either new or continuing students, to practice yoga every day in any way for 40 consecutive days. Registration for the 40 Day Yoga Challenge is available online at www.yogayoga.com or at any of the five Yoga Yoga locations in Austin, TX.

“The goal is
simple – practice yoga for 40 consecutive days,” explains Yoga Yoga CEO Rich Goldstein. “We chose the 40 day timeframe because it takes 40 days to fully develop a new habit. Your yoga practice might be a 10-minute restorative yoga session at home one day, an hour yoga class at Yoga Yoga the next day. The 40 Day Yoga Challenge is about making that daily commitment to yourself to achieve your intended goal, whatever that may be.”

According to the 2008 Yoga in America study, 6.9 percent or 15.8 million U.S. adults practice yoga. Of current non-practitioners, nearly 8 percent, or 18.3 million Americans, say they are very or extremely interested in yoga. And 4.1 percent of non-practitioners, or about 9.4 million people, say they will definitely try yoga within the next year. The 2008 study also indicated that almost half of current practitioners started practicing yoga to improve their overall health. One significant trend to emerge from the study is the use of yoga as medical therapy. According to the study, 6.1 percent, or nearly 14 million Americans, say that a doctor or therapist has recommended yoga to them. In addition, nearly half of all adults agree that yoga would be beneficial if they were undergoing treatment for a medical condition.

Metta in Motion Thai Yoga Massage School has been in the making for ten years and has already enjoyed two years of graduating students under its name. Mia, your instructor, has over twenty years of teaching experience, from teaching at an Acupuncture school and a Massage school in Chicago, to teaching for Lotus Palm in Montreal. Now, living in Victoria she continues to share the Metta from this b eautiful location with her unique and individualized teaching methods.

Mia’s love for Thai Yoga Massage began after a friend who travelled to Northern India, where Thai Yoga Massage originates from, shared some of the Thai Massage that she learned with Mia. Realizing that there was something better than the Shiatsu that Mia had been practicing, she felt drawn to learn this beautiful ancient healing form. She went to Thailand and learned Thai Yoga Massage at the Sun Shine Network and with Pichest Boonthumme. After three months she returned back to Chicago and felt that there was still so much more to learn. She found two woman teaching Thai Yoga Massage at their school in Chicago, Open Secrets, and Mia continued to study with them for the next three years. After a few years of travelling and teaching Thai Massage Mia moved to Montreal and began to learn the Lotus Palm method, and eventually become a teacher for them. At that point Metta in Motion was a seed planted in the heart and mind of Mia. She knew that one could not ever know enough about Thai Massage and promised her self that she would continue to learn and one day open her own school.

Ever a proponent for continued education, Mia went to Ojai California last year and learned with Saul David Raye as well as with Sacred Asia in Whistler.

In creating Metta in Motion, Mia has combined the best of what she learned and has incorporated it into the present form and flow of the Metta in Motion incarnation.

Since Metta means loving kindenss it is a large part of Thai Yoga Massage, as well as meditation, it just made sense to call the school Metta in Motion. Metta in Motion embodies the spirit and soul of Thai Massage.

In January of 2008 the doors of Metta in Motion were opened and holds regular Thai Massage Courses at the prestigious Queenswood Centre and smaller Thai Massage Sessions in Mia's private studio. Classes are always in demand and it is highly recommended you secure your space well in advance.

Mia makes the classes fun and easy to learn, an experience not to be missed. Whether you are learning to work on family and friends, learning a new way to work with your clients or just to experience what you have been hearing so much about, Metta in Motion is your place for learning the ancient healing art of Thai Yoga Massage.

Metta in Motion has Thai massage courses ranging from Certification Classes, Advanced Classes, Barefoot Thai Massage, Thai on the Table and Pre-Natal Classes. In addition we have shorter Classes, Four Hour Taster, Two Day Introduction, and Couples Thai Massage. All the classes are intimate and small with lots of personalized attention. Metta, meaning Loving Kindness is a large part of the class, giving Loving kindness to our clients, loving kindness to our classmates and especially loving kindness to ourselves. With small classes Mia is able to teach the Metta in Motion method clearly, calmly, concisely, with lots of individual attention, and Metta to each student equally.

The class runs from 1-4 p.m., Saturday April 17, at Yoga Del Sol, 11 Chambon Road in Lemitar. The cost is $35. Interested parties can register or get more information by contacting studio owner Marisa Wolfe at yogadelsolstudio@yahoo.com, or 505-417-1986.

ChiRunning, an internationally renowned, revolutionary running technique that combines the powerful principles of T'ai Chi with running, is returning to London on May 1st and 2nd. Both of these all-day workshops will be taught by ChiRunning founder/Ultra-marathon runner, Danny Dreyer.

Location: London
Instructor: Danny Dreyer
Date: May 1 and May 2, 2010 (two separate one-day
workshops)
Time: 9:00 am - 4:30 pm (1-hr lunch break)
Address: Teddington Sports Centre, Broom Road, Teddington, TW11, London, United Kingdom

Millions of runners quit or avoid running because of the fear of injury, or long-term damage. Yet, there have been few fresh ideas or new approaches to running and injury prevention in the last thirty years.

The ChiRunning program offers a real solution to the high rate of injury that plagues the sport of running. The ChiRunning technique increases mental clarity and focus by engaging your mind. At the same time it teaches you how to deeply relax your body so that you can run freely and effortlessly for the rest of your life.

Scientific studies are showing that good biomechanics can prevent running injuries. "Running does not hurt your body, it's the way you run," says Dreyer. There are countless books, courses, and classes on how to improve golf swings, tennis games, and even cycling technique, but very few teaching how to run properly. The ChiRunning program fills this void by teaching people bio-mechanically efficient running form, drawing from the laws of physics and the wealth of powerful movement principles found in T'ai Chi, yoga and Pilates: engaging your core muscles, using proper body alignment, and taking advantage of the pull of gravity.

ChiRunning has been teaching good running form to all levels of runners, from beginners to elites, since 1999, and has helped countless runners all over the world improve their running technique, reduce their chances of injury and achieve their personal goals. The ChiRunning program has been embraced by athletes who have stopped running due to injury, as well as those who want to have a competitive edge. ChiRunning is easy to learn and most runners say they feel its positive effects almost immediately. More information about ChiRunning can be found at: www.chirunning.com
