Union is the essence of yoga. Partner Yoga or Yoga for Couples is a gentle practice which combines yoga and massage. Joining in postures and stretches while supporting each other, enhances awareness while also bringing new depth to one’s connection. The practice takes you to a place where you can take a retreat from your normal self and be focused on play.

Partner Yoga focuses the
mind. It increases strength and flexibility which are done in the spirit of nurturing and child-like play. The practice builds trust, communication and intimacy on verbal and non-verbal levels. You learn to practice enforcing your boundaries and limits in a spirit of compassion.

Yoga for couples is a fun adventure into intimacy, play and relaxation. The poses are simply a way for couples to step deeper into their being. When you stretch with your partner, you melt each other's tensions. Whether your relationship is fresh or stale, working together in yoga can potentially renew your connection with yourself and your significant other.

Partner Yoga is a great way to learn surrender, build trust, and deepen intimacy. If you have never done partner yoga before, it is both meaningful and fun, and people say that they feel more open-hearted afterwards. To find a class suitable for your fitness and body type, make sure to ask the teacher beforehand if previous yoga experience is required and if the poses are physically challenging. If you are a beginner, take a class that has gentle poses that are not done in a hot room.

According to Jasmine Kaloudis, Founder of Synergy By Jasmine, based in Philadelphia, PA, "Some poses challenge your balance and strength. Others require your total trust and surrender. Each exercise and breathing technique uses the power of the partnership. Partners can often achieve more than if they were practicing alone. This yoga style requires no special equipment and can be done in any open space."

There are various levels of partner yoga and other more advanced forms are called Acro-Yoga, (Acrobatic Yoga). This practice is best suited to those that are more advanced in their yoga practice and is best done with a spotter or helper since many of the poses are more acrobatic and adventurous in nature. They also challenge balance and strength and one can fall out of position more easily since they are acrobatic in nature.

Many of us go to the gym and get on treadmill or elliptical machine for about half an hour. Then randomly work out on the machines or free weights (if we have time). Some are rushing for a bit of 3 by 3 square feet of aerobic room floor to get their work out in. The Pologa Company has designed a reliable and efficient way to organize their availability for their clients. On The Pologa Company’s w ebsite there is a booking agent that allows their clients to determine their own schedule and pay as they go method. Fitness professionals always recommend warming up before you static stretch and then gradually climaxing to an anaerobic state, then cooling down. The instructors teach the proper theories and techniques of NASM, PFIT, ACE, and APEX to ensure a safe and proficient weight loss program.

You do not have to be a fitness enthusiast or master yogi to participate in Pologa. The Pologa instructors explain and demonstrate beginner, intermediate and advance levels, so that everyone can practice at the level that they feel the most comfortable. The combination of pole dancing and yoga tones you from head to toe! You will see more definition in your glutes, calves, triceps, biceps, lats, and abdominals. If you’re a woman looking for a natural way to overcome PMS, infertility, or negative body image, check with Sara Avant Stover, renowned yoga teacher & women’s health expert, and director of The Way of The Happy Woman™.

She’s launched the first-ever, Yoga Alliance certified 200-Hour Women’s Yoga Teacher Training to take place in Chiang Mai, Thailand from January 18-February 16, 2011. T
he course trains teachers in the specific system of yoga that’s best for women’s health and happiness: Yin Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Nutrition & Anatomy, Buddhist Meditation, and Philosophy with an emphasis on a feminine approach to practice and life.

Recognizing that 80% of yoga practitioners are female, and a graduate of the all-women’s Barnard College herself, Ms. Stover knows first-hand the need for women to be trained to teach and practice yoga not only in a nurturing, supportive environment, but also in a method targeted to enhance women’s health.

“Quite simply, it’s been proven again and again that women learn better in community-specifically an all-women’s community - and while most of the practical teaching skills learned are applicable to both men and women, the experience of training to teach with ONLY women is so profoundly different (and powerful) that you’ll walk away a stronger teacher as a result,” she says.

Ms. Stover works with women around the world to balance their femininity and their busy lives to find true happiness and radiance within - beyond their body size, relationships, and careers -through yoga, meditation, and balanced living. She teaches trainings, workshops, and women’s yoga retreats internationally, while also offering online tools like home study kits and tele-seminars.

Her first book on the topic of women’s yoga and life balance will be published by New World Library in the spring of 2011. More information is available on her website: www.TheWayoftheHappyWoman.com
