Kim Ruby has been working in the fitness industry since 1991. She has a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from the University of Southern California and is certified as a personal trainer by the American Council on Exercise. While working as a personal trainer, she became interested in mind-body health and began studying Zen with Joko Beck at the Zen Center of San Diego. She then completed the yoga teacher training program at the Center for Yoga in 2001.
Kim teaches a vinyasa (also called "flow" or "power") style of yoga, which unites breath and movement. She sees private clients in their home, office, or hotel gym. Her style of teaching focuses on developing mindfulness, and the intensity of the practice is adjusted to meet her students' needs. She also has extensive experience in working with mind-body symptoms, and she teaches yoga as a tool for working with such disorders.
In addition to teaching yoga, Kim is currently completing the coursework and volunteer duties necessary for medical school. She is planning to apply in 2006.
