Kundalini Yoga combines the practice of asanas (physical exercise and postures), pranayama
(controlled breathing), mantras (chanting) and meditation.
Kundalini Yoga is the primary form taught in the class. We typically begin with a short meditation and
several warm-up exercises. This is followed by a series of asanas, pranayamas and relaxations
designed to achieve a certain result such as opening the heart, expanding creativity or strengthening
the immune and nervous systems. The experience is then integrated with meditation.
Bring a large blanket and wear anything that's comfortable and lets you move. A small pillow is also a
good idea - it helps with the meditation posture. It sometimes can get chilly by the lake, even when it
is hot during the day, so it's a good idea to bring an extra layer of clothing, a sweater or a wrap. I
always bring some extra blankets so people can bundle up during relaxations.
