Swásthya Yôga is the name of the systematization of Ancient Yôga, the most complete Yôga in the world. Swásthya Yôga rose to great notoriety, because it represents the acknowledgement of a lineage much more ancient than that of Classic Yôga. Swásthya Yôga is the systematization of Dakshinacharatántrika-Niríshwarasámkhya Yôga, Pre-Classic, Pre-Aryan, Pre-Vedic, Pre-Historic: the most ancient, furthermore, the most authentic.
The main/principal characteristics of Swásthya Yôga (ashtánga guna) are:
1. An extremely complete practice composed of eight types of techniques.
2. The codification of general rules.
3. The recovery of the archaic concept of linked sequences without repetition.
4. The fact of being oriented to special people, who were born for Swásthya.
5. The value of gregarious feeling/sense.
6. Superlative seriousness.
7. Sincere happiness.
8. Unbreakable loyalty.
The first characteristic mentioned refers to all eight parts of the techniques that make up the orthodox Swásthya Yôga practice. This regular practice is called ashtánga sádhana (ashta=eight, anga=part, sádhana=practice). These eight parts that make up a normal practice are the following:
1. mudrá: reflexological hand gesture
2. pújá: tuning with the archetype, energy retribution
3. mantra: vocalization of sounds and ultrasounds
4. pránáyáma: bioenergy expansion by means of respiration
5. kriyá: purification of the mucous membranes
6. asana: firm and comfortable physical position
7. yôganidrá: relaxation technique
8. samyama: concentration, meditation and hyperconscious.
