we really had a nice time at Samana Chakra but ultimately our
experience was more akin to renting a room, rather than being at a hotel or
retreat. The prices really didn’t have much bearing on the services and
facilities which we received or were led to expect, sadly. We have
stayed at a lot of hotels and retreats worldwide, and appreciate that
they vary from country to country, but there is a basic level of
service that we have come to expect for our outlay, and Samana Chakra
sadly didn't live up.
-no yoga!(teacher sick, no replacement offered)
-no hot water on first day
-the first day massages were 45mins not 1 hour as billed
-no poolside refreshments offered
-mowing
and strimming going on literally right next to us even during a
‘relaxing’ sunset (despite having all day to do this when we weren’t
around!)
-whilst good, the food was overpriced by a large factor relative to other local restaurants of similar standard
this
is all ok in some circumstances, but when you weigh up that we were
initially billed close to $1000 for two nights (including transfers
from Piura), you may want to look for better value for money.
